Later this month, I will be heading up to Boston for the AACR Molecular Targets & Cancer Therapeutics meeting. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to Boston – the last time was the summer between graduating high school and starting college! I’ll be in the Back Bay area, so if anyone has any suggestions for things to do in the evening (or during less interesting sessions!) or places I should eat, let me know!
Also, if anyone else is either attending the conference or a permanent resident of Boston, send me an email if you are interested in perhaps trying to meet up while I am there!

I'm a current resident of Boston, and there are a ton of good places in the Back Bay / South End area to eat.
If you like seafood, try B&G Oysters. I haven't found an excuse to eat there myself, but I hear it's fabulous. There are quite a few good French restaurants in the area, too, if you like that sort of thing. I'm not knowledgeable enough to recommend one over the other, though.
The area can be a bit pricey, though, so you might want to check the menu before you sit down.
I don't know if this is in the right neighborhood, but the last time I was in Boston I went for lunch at the Liberty Hotel. The hotel's built in a former prison, and they've kept a lot of the original detail, which is both creepy and beautiful at the same time. The lobby's ceilings are at least 4 stories high, and you can be served while sitting on the sofas there rather than entering the actual restaurant. Very cool experience!
Current resident of Boston here!
My recommendations would all be places that are cheap to moderately expensive, as I 'm a grad student as well... In Back Bay my favorite coffee shop is Cafe L'Aroma on Newbury, for quick falafel I go to Cafe Jaffa between Boylston and Newbury. Cool atmosphere at Typhoon Asian Bistro if you are wanted a drink and dinner. Bouchee has fantastic French food (although I don't know if it's authentic, just delicious).
Depends what you like, there are all ethnicities represented in food here. Let me know if you want to be adventurous or try something new, and I can suggest things you may not find elsewhere. Or Yelp can. :)
When are you in town?
Thanks for the recommendations, everyone!
Miss Outlier, I will be there November 16-20th.
Hope that you had a GREAT time! I've visited Boston only once, but I really enjoyed it :) Also - I am so pleased that you enjoyed your package! Thanks for the e-mail :)
